detour

project overview

Detour is a UX project I completed as part of the UC Berkeley UX UI Certificate Program, designed in a team of five. The brief was to simplify the process of discovering new places by helping users curate the most scenic route to their destination combining the utility of navigation with the joy of exploration. I contributed to the full process: creating proto-personas, conducting competitor analysis, leading initial user interviews, and developing user flows for both the mobile app and CarPlay. I also designed and prototyped across Lo-Fi, Mid, and Hi-Fi fidelity, and created the illustration system that gives the app its warm, travel-inspired visual identity. The result is a dual-platform experience, a mobile app where users build and save scenic trips, and a CarPlay integration that activates the route hands-free once they're on the road.
